Whenever we connect deeply with another person, energetic threads form between us, often between our chakras. Loving cords nourish both people. But cords formed through fear, control, dependency or trauma can keep draining us long after a relationship has ended.
Signs of an unhealthy cord
You may be carrying a draining cord if:
- You think about someone constantly, even when you do not want to
- You feel their moods or sense when they are upset
- You feel tired or low after contact with them
- You keep returning to a situation you know is not good for you
- You cannot seem to move on, despite time passing
A gentle cord cutting practice
Sit quietly and call in protection: many people invoke Archangel Michael. Visualise the person in front of you and notice where cords connect you. With gratitude for the lessons, imagine the unhealthy cords being lovingly cut and dissolved into light. Send their energy back to them with blessings, and call your own energy back to you. Finish by filling any empty spaces with golden light.
Cord cutting does not cut love or the ability to have a healthy relationship. It simply frees both of you.
When to seek support
For long marriages, family bonds or traumatic relationships, cords can run deep. A relationship healing session combines heart chakra healing, forgiveness and guided cord cutting in a safe, held space.
