Sound has been used for healing for thousands of years, from Tibetan singing bowls to Vedic chanting. The Solfeggio frequencies are a set of tones that modern sound healers associate with the seven chakras and with emotional and spiritual themes.

The frequencies and their chakras

Traditional associations used in sound healing practice:

  • 396 Hz: Root chakra, releasing fear and guilt
  • 417 Hz: Sacral chakra, facilitating change and creativity
  • 528 Hz: Solar plexus, transformation and self-confidence (often called the "love frequency")
  • 639 Hz: Heart chakra, harmony in relationships
  • 741 Hz: Throat chakra, expression and clarity
  • 852 Hz: Third eye, intuition and inner vision
  • 963 Hz: Crown chakra, spiritual connection

How to listen

Find a quiet place, use headphones at a gentle volume and lie or sit comfortably. Choose one frequency based on the chakra you want to support, breathe slowly and let the sound wash through you for five to fifteen minutes.

Sound healing is a relaxation practice that complements, rather than replaces, medical care. You can play every chakra frequency, and strike a virtual singing bowl, in our free Meditation Studio.
